Large Diameter Storage Tank for Lomas Bayas Project, Antofagasta - Chile

The equipment features 44.3 ft diameter x 23 ft high, which challenged our engineering and production team into setting a new high, being this one, the largest diameter tank ever produced in Peru and the region for the mining industry.

The tank was delivered in three ring sections plus the bottom (six sections) and top cap (four sections). The rings were produced by our vertical filament winding, which can wind up to 49.3 ft diameter.

For the transport, the rings were compressed using our Oblation System, and shipped inside steel cage frames, making it possible to transport the sections all the way to Antofagasta-Chile. Later on client’s site, all sections and other components were assembles and joined in place for the leak test. The overall time for this operation was 45 days.
