Minera Exar is an Argentinian company, owned by Lithium Americas Corp (LAC) y Ganfeng Lithium. The company is focused on extracting and refining of lithium at the Salar Cuchari-Olaroz, located in Jujuy, Argentina.
In May 2019, due to the long-term relationship, and trust between the parties, Tenova Advanced Technologies, based in Israel, awarded Lepsa for the fabrication of 04 FRP Settlers for the Boron SX Plant.
The manufacture of the equipment was done strictly following all technical specifications applicable to the project. The dimensions of the settlers are 62.4 ft long x 16.5 ft wide 5.11 ft high, and set a difficult challenge due to the dimensions, but an opportunity to show and apply all our experience in the project.
Each settler was produced in two (02) separate sections, installed in a steel support frame. In order to produce such large equipment, equally large moulds were produced by LEPSA previously. All settlers were manufactured with Vinyl ester resins compatible to the corrosion duty.
During the complete manufacturing process, we have been monitored and audited by Tenova’s full time quality inspector, who made sure that all technical specifications are met, as well as the required quality lever of work was achieved. Additionally, Minera Exar performed some factory visits to LEPSA’s facilities as well.
As a final milestone, leak tests and conductivity tests were successfully performed.
Delivery of equipment was performed between June and September 2020 to entire satisfaction of our client, TENOVA, and the owner, MINERA EXAR; confirming this way that, LEPSA leads in the region, the FRP market for extremely complex product for Lithium refining plants..
