LEPSA: 7 continuous years of active participation in the Talara Refinery Modernization Project (PMRT)

Since November 2015, LEPSA has been participating in the engineering and construction of the Talara Refinery Modernization Project. The project will integrate new processing units, which allows to increase the productivity from 65k to 95k barrels per day, as well as enable it to process heavy crudes.

LEPSA, initially invited to participate in the megaproject through the company Sigdo Koppers Engineering and Construction (SKIC), was able to position itself in the area quickly as a company, setting up a workshop, offices and establishing itself in Talara as the specialist in chemical joints (butt joints) and assembly of FRP pipes. This is due to our high standards of safety, quality, immediate availability, expert and qualified personnel, compliance with the technical specifications received and timely deliveries according to client requirements.

Our capabilities as a business allow us to participate in the Project ever since 2015, and strengthen our strategic relationships with international companies such as:

  • SKIC
  • CONSORCIO JJC-COSAPI
  • CUMBRA
  • COBRA
  • TECNICAS REUNIDAS (España)
  • CONSTRUCTORA SAN JOSE (España)
  • JUVIER SAC
  • WESTFIRE (JOHNSON CONTROLS)
  • DEMEM SAC
  • COSAPI S.A. Ingeniería y Construcción

Currently, LEPSA is working on the Auxiliary Units and Complementary Works area of the project.

LEPSA has successfully performed over 178,000 inch-diameter FRP joints, on piping ranging from 1” up to 96”, employing 650,000 man hours approximately. All our joints have been pressure tested up to 355 psi, with a successful rate over 99.5%.

As a company concerned with safety and the environment, we have registered ZERO fatal or incapacitating accidents during our 7 years of permanence, achieving one of the highest safety standards in the project; this highlights our experience and capacity to undertake piping assembly and joining services in the field, at a REGIONAL LEVEL.
