LEPSA participa en el Proyecto Planta Demo SX de GLENCORE Chile

Lomas Bayas, owned by Glencore, is an open pit copper mining operation, located in the Atacama desert in Chile. The operation involves leaching and refining.

By October 2016, Glencore Chile invited LEPSA to participate in the bidding process for various FRP equipment for the Lomas Bayas SX Demostration Plant Project.

The Glencore’s technical team, including personnel from Australia and Chile, visited LEPSA’s facilities in order to assess our experience and capabilities that were suitable for the project’s needs.

LEPSA was able of earning Glencore’s trust for the project and was awarded to manufacture 17 process tanks and 7 settlers. The tanks’ dimensions were ranged from 4 ft to 11.6 ft diameter x 6.7 ft high. Settlers were 25 ft long x 16.5 ft wide x 3.7 ft high.

Settlers were manufactured from Vinyl ester resins with exterior layers of fire retardant resin. Internal surface employed carbon veil in order to make it conductive for the static arrest system.

All along the manufacturing process, LEPSA received visits from inspectors on behalf the client. These inspections include witnessing quality control tests and final leak test, which were all performed incompliance to the project’s technical specifications and international standards for FRP. Equipment was delivered to entire satisfaction of the client.
