LEPSA performed the installation of FRP equipment for Mina Justa Project

In July 2020, The company Graña y Montero, on behalf of AUSENCO/MARCOBRE, awarded LEPSA with the contract for installation of FRP settlers, and tanks for the project.              

Due to the large size of the scope of works, LEPSA brough 80 FRP technicians to site, accomplishing over 56,000 men-hours on site in order to complete the following:

  1. Installation of 04 FRP settlers. The dimensions of these were 68.11 ft long x 68.11 ft wide, and therefore, delivered in over 24 sections to site, including the side shrouding and arched roof.
  2. Assembly and joining of 04 sectioned tanks. These tanks were manufactured by Filament winding and shipped to site using the “oblation system” due to their oversized dimensions. The tanks were 26.3 ft diameter and up to 110 m3 capacity. This operation demanded our collaboration, bringing all our experience in handling, assembling and strapping large diameter tanks.

Los trabajos en obra fueron desarrollados exitosamente de acuerdo a los procedimientos de trabajo y especificaciones técnicas.

The works started in August 2019 and continued along 13 months, despite all COVID-19’s restrictions. LEPSA, setting up an adequate bio-security plan, in accordance to all recommendations and client’s requirements, and putting in practice, completed the job up to the leak tests before the commissioning works.
